My name is Daniel Roulston and my interest in photography began in my early childhood through my grandmother, who always seemed to have a camera in hand, and also my uncle, whose photographs of the world proved to be a wonderful never ending visual experience for a young boy.
A photograph captures a window to the world, frozen forever in photons.  That scene, in the longward march of time forward, will, in all proabability, never come again.  A photographer presents these views to the observer, to make what he or she will of them, and that is the essence of photography.

A lot of people like to talk gear so this is for the gearheads out there.  I shoot exclusively Canon (yes, I'm biased) cameras and lenses.  What I use:
   Cameras:
      Canon 40D
      Canon 5D Mk II
   Lenses:
      Canon 50mm 1.8 II
      Canon 17-40mm f/4 L
      Canon 24-70mm f/2.8 L
      Canon 24-105mm f/4 L
      Canon 70-200mm f/4 L
      Canon 100-400mm f/4-5.6 L
For printing I use the professional Canon Pixma Pro9500 printer, capable of producing
exquisite prints up to 13" x 19" in size.

I also keep an alternate site with more galleries at Flickr.  The link is:
